GREEN 2010
by Derrick Namisi Siiya on Tuesday 5th January '10

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the year of 20eggs10fingers.
Most of you dreamed of it and here it is.
And I take this opportunity to say, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. Thanks for reading my articles last year, and I hope you will gain something from them this year.

From space, the earth looks so peaceful and green.
Its shows no signs of turmoil, suffering and the threat of global warming.
If the earth looks green, why don't its' inhabitants GO GREEN?

Resolutions are burning hot in its' inhabitants' minds, and the Obama spirit busy whispering in your ears, 'Yes we can!'
Hope it will endure the pressures, failures and disappointment 2010 has in store. Usually in the face of hardships
the courage and enthusiasm we have possess at the begining of the year dies out.

However there is one resolution I feel should be included in our grand resolutions and not fade under any circumstance.
Fighting Global warming.
Daily, each of us leaves a pollution footprint in the atmosphere by how we lead of our lives.
It may not be much when compared to big polluters like industries and aviation industry. But it still remains pollution.
Either it is through burning charcoal, releasing car fumes, poor disposal of products we consume and through other minor means.

For each day that goes by, we see the effects of global warming on our planet.
Funny enough, you will find some people declaring that we are not yet facing global warming. This is absurd.
The sun is much hotter than ever, season are unstable.
Glaciers are receding at alarming rates.
Malaira is taking over in mountainous areas where it never was.

Last year, we looked at the Copenhagen Climate summit with alot of optimism as it sat.
But the overall results weren't very interesting. Very bad harbinger for the earth.
It shows how the countries are still self centered, fighting climate change is secondary to their economies.
Yet I realise that without the enivorement and its' resources, the economies wouldn't exist.

Now that 2011 s fast approaching, politicians are busy warming up and alerting us of their intentions to lead us.
They are telling us of how they are the right men and women for the job, country, how they want the regime and the man to go.
Sadly enough, none of them is telling us of how they intend to fight global warming in our communities.
Through little eforts like planting trees, and finding alternative means to firewood. We could benefit our earth.
The best year plan would be if we all went green to save our planet.
